We want to keep our seas clean…
…And we need your support.
Whether you’re a resident on Scilly, a visitor, a marine scientist, an ocean activist, or you simply believe that we should be protecting our oceans, we need your support. Luckily for us, there are a number of ways you can help the cause and support the campaign.
Our present actions are:
Calling on South West Water to provide secondary treatment and UV disinfection. We’re also asking for the evidence used to justify their recent, self-contradicting claim that screening alone was acceptable for both the environment and water quality, and for full details of revised plans from their updated proposal.
Calling on the Environment Agency and the Marine Management Organisation to designate the area/work as a ‘Site of High Public Interest’ and a ‘Highly Complex and Contentious Case’. This is to ensure that there is additional scrutiny and extended public consultation before permits and licence decisions are made on the present proposal.
Calling on local councillors, our local MP, and local conservation organisations to ask for support. We want them to accept no less than secondary sewage treatment with UV disinfection for Scilly. Without this, South West Water’s current proposal will see the Isles of Scilly heading into the future with an unlawful wastewater management plan that harms our spectacular marine environment.
